Installing LittaTrap™ Correctly: Best Practices for Reliable Performance

When it comes to stormwater compliance, correct installation is as important as the product itself. A LittaTrap™ that is not fitted properly can compromise performance, increase maintenance requirements, and even create flooding risks.

At EnviroPod™, we’ve supported thousands of installations worldwide, and we’ve seen the difference that following best practices makes. Below are key lessons from our installation teams and maintenance partners to help ensure every LittaTrap™ delivers reliable, long-term performance.

1. Liner Installation Matters

• Correct: Liner folded through the overflow bypass with the buckle below the corner post. This ensures water can flow freely in high-rainfall events.
• Incorrect: Liner installed over the basket collar, blocking the overflow bypass. This can cause flooding during heavy rain.

2. Positioning in Combo Inlet

• Correct: Basket installed directly under the clear grate opening for easy access during maintenance.

• Incorrect: Basket positioned under the wrong section, making it difficult to remove and service.

3. Seal Integrity

• Correct: Seals curve up the catch basin walls with a fall toward the basket, leaving no gaps greater than 5 mm.
• ‍Incorrect: Oversized seals not mechanically fixed, or seals with visible gaps that allow flows to bypass the basket.

4. Offsets

• Correct: Small offsets are acceptable as long as the basket can still be removed easily for maintenance.
• Incorrect: Excessive offsets restrict basket removal and create unnecessary maintenance challenges.

5. Use the Checklist

Every installation should be signed off against the official LittaTrap™ Installation Checklist, covering 16 essential points including bracket height, seal placement, liner fit, and site cleanup. Documenting installations with photos helps ensure quality and warranty protection.
